If you’re new to Agile project management, its approach might look intimidating, complex, and difficult to manage. But know that if you are performing project management already, you’re likely doing many of the things defined within an Agile approach. Leveraging what you know or practice and with a few tweaks you could be on your way to implementing finished projects or services in far shorter order. Super-adaptable, Agile project management is an incremental and non-linear approach to project management. It focuses on breaking down large tasks into what is more manageable in a team’s environment or in shorter iterations in the project life cycle. Teams that adopt Agile approach methods are known to better complete work faster, better adapt to changing project requirements, and optimize their workflow. Agile project management does not require the oversight of a project manager, as traditional ‘waterfall’ project management does. Instead, teams share a project manager’s responsibilities to communicate and collaborate better among themselves. Results are analyzed more frequently, not just at the end, and teams adapt to changing feedback and desired results, causing a process of continual development. Consider these Agile pros and cons to help decide if it’s the right direction for you.
